This morning I woke up feeling rested. It’s feels odd but good and early enough to take care of some things that I’ve been wanting to get rolling and that’s further developing my relationship with God and growing deeper. Daily devotions are a huge and really a staple that leads to this wanted outcome. I’d like to share my thoughts and devotions with anyone and everyone, as it not only give me a chance to ponder message and scripture I read, but also to hopefully inspire anyone that may come across these postings.
Today’s Devotion comes from the book “Husband After God” by Aaron and Jennifer Smith. You can find it here if interested: http://amzn.to/2b3bFuK and for all of you ladies reading, there’s also Wife after God which can be found here: http://amzn.to/2b3tmHV
Be sure to like and follow them on Facebook as well as they post multiple times a day with encouragement: http://bit.ly/2bkIUHP
Here’s a quick but very important excerpt describing the important task given to men of God:
“You are to love your wife with an unconditional Christ-like loveand your motivation to unconditionally love your wife must come directly from an intimate relationship with God. Only God can give you the strength necessary to love her in this way. You love because he first loved you. You forgive because he has forgiven you. Your love is motivated by his.”
I hope that today you take a moment to think about this and assess your relationship today with your wife. Honestly this does not only apply to a husband and wife relationship, but should exist as the basis for all of our relationships. Imagine the changes that would come if we were all to love others like Christ. It would be an amazing thing.
I love the closing line of the daily prayer provided by today’s lesson “Make my marriage show the world who you are.” It really makes you think about the big picture. Your marriage shouldn’t be to show how well you work together to buy more, do more, or create awesome kids (although I do have a couple :D) Everything we do whether it’s work or play should honor God and be done in a way that others see God through it. Make your Marriage and Life something that is bigger. Make it something that glorifies God.
